More snow? Seriously? I grew up in New England and I have to say the whole old-man-winter thing never really got to me until the last couple of years. I am getting old for this. For boots and hats and coats and gloves and ice melt, shovels and snow plows. Add all the gear usually required to tote a baby anywhere, as a baseline, and my brain is about to explode.
I need a warm weather vacation. Going to do some research as soon as I finish typing.
Also, the wintery weather makes me a slug. All I want to do is sleep. I changed the sheets on my bed this morning, and as soon as I was done I could not resist the lure of that crispy, newly made bed while H had his nap. When H started cooing and half crying only 30 minutes later I silently prayed he'd fall back to sleep. No go.
There's no one I'd rather be trapped in the house with than my gleeful little rascal. But still -- being trapped in the house at all? Is a little crazy-making for me.
What are your housebound-by-snow-with-almost-toddler coping strategies?

I don't really have any strategies. I am interested in reading the additional comments, because I am at the end of my rope too. I was going to take Birdie to the library story time today, but we got freezing rain last night and the roads are atrocious, and I am not going to leave the house. The only fun thing I came up with to do yesterday was to have a picnic on the floor of the living room. She was very amused at first, then the cheerio throwing commenced. Now I need to vacuum, but the sound of it terrifies her, and I don't dare do it during nap time (right now) because it might wake her up.
Ugh, I want to go to a warm place too!
I'm definitely slugging here, too. We don't have any snow, but the cold weather makes me not want to do ANYTHING.
I wish I could share some great ideas but nothing I try seems to keep his interest very long. Yesterday I came across an old box of crayons and coloring book and we had great fun with that for about 20 minutes. Which was great for 20 minutes, but then I was back to looking for cheap entertainment.
Another blogger gave me an idea of getting one of those little hard plastic toddler pools and filling it with dried pasta and dried beans and letting him scoop and shovel. Great idea - but where am I going to find a toddler pool in January?
We are trapped in the house too. Ay yi yi. He enjoys getting under the blanket/tent with me. For a WHOLE minute. But he does enjoy taking a ride/crawling under/pushing around the empty laundry basket.
I totally forgot, he loves flipping through those small picture albums. he will do it for quite a while. He especially enjoys baby pictures and pictures of Mommy and Daddy.
Dang it, I was totally hoping there would be an abundance of ways to keep my stir crazy son occupied. Aside from the MGD I have been giving him. Just kidding, MGD is crap- he gets Rolling Rock.
